Opera makes a resounding return to Kalamazoo with a symphonic-staged performance of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca. Sweeping melodies and soaring vocals beautifully capture this tragic story of love, sacrifice, and redemption.

The Story:

Tosca follows singer Floria Tosca as she tries to save her lover Cavaradossi from the sadistic police chief Scarpia. With twists and turns until the very end, who will have the last word? Featuring breathtaking professional vocalists from stages around the world, this high-stakes story will sweep you off your feet with each heart-rending note.

What is a symphonic-staged opera?

Unlike a traditional performance where the orchestra is hidden in the pit, the Kalamazoo Symphony's production of Tosca keeps the orchestra on the main stage! The cast will perform on elevated platforms while surrounded by the orchestra. Custom projection designs will wrap the stage, creating backdrops for the dramatic story.
